Chintamani Lokeshwor, the โwish granting gem (Sanskrit: Chintamani), and Lord of the world (Sanskrit: Lokeshwor)โ, manifests as one of the hundred-and-eight different Newar Buddhist aspects or manifestations of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of great compassion.
Chintamani Lokeshwor is depicted in different forms one of which is depicted as dancing posture. In this form he is shown in dancing position adorned with jewelries; he carries Damaru on his right hand and his left hand holds type of small cymbals known as Manjira or Khartal or Kartal and his legs are in dancing position.
This statue is a beautiful portrayal of Chintamani Lokeshwor in Dancing form.ย Expertly sculptedย from copper alloy using lost wax method, the statue is gold and silver plated with hand painted face decorated with Turquoise, Coral and Lapis stones to yield a rich and sensuous finish and has fine intricate hand carvings known as siko carvings in local term. This sculpture was individually handcrafted in Patan, Nepal by master artisans of the Shakya clan who are considered among the best in the world. These craftsmen are the modern heirs to a centuries-old tradition of creating sacred art for use in temples and monasteries. The fine metalworking techniques have been passed down from generation to generation since ancient times.
