ย Manjushri โ€“ The Bodhisattva of Wisdom

Manjushri embodies the omniscient wisdom of enlightenment - the wisdom that discerns the true nature of reality. He can discriminate between correct and incorrect views and between beneficial and non-beneficial actions to be taken on one's spiritual path. He bestows intelligence, knowledge, wisdom, mastery of the teachings, eloquence, and memory. His name means "gentle glory" and he is especially revered in Nepal, where he is said to have enabled the founding of civilization in the Kathmandu Valley. Manjushri is also the patron Bodhisattva of the Kadampa (i.e. Gelugpa) order of Tibetan Buddhism, which is famous for its master scholars, calledย geshes.

    Gestures and Attributes

Manjushri's left hand is inย Vitarka Mudra, the gesture of teaching and intellectual discussion. This hand also holds the stem of a lotus flower that supports theย Prajnaparamita, orย Perfection of Wisdomย sutra. The flaming sword in his right hand symbolizes the power of discriminating wisdom to cut through ignorance, the root of all suffering. Manjushri, in this sword-wielding pose, is representative of the courage and exertion needed to realize freedom.

    About this Sculpture

The Gold-Plated Painted Manjushri Statue is a stunning representation of the Bodhisattva of Wisdom. Crafted from high-quality copper alloy, it is adorned with exquisite hand-painted details that bring depth and vibrancy. The gold-plated finish enhances its brilliance, complementing the intricate brushwork on the face, robes, and ornaments. Manjushriโ€™s serene expression is delicately painted, radiating wisdom and compassion. The fine stroke highlights the elaborate motifs on his garments and attributes, creating a lifelike appearance. His sacred sword and lotus, symbolic of wisdom, are finely detailed with subtle color variations. The shading and layering techniques used in painting enhance the three-dimensional effect, making the statue visually striking. Fine patterns on the base and ornaments are precisely hand-painted to reflect divine elegance. This hand-painted Manjushri statue is a fine art piece of Buddhist artistry, ideal for enhancing meditation spaces and spiritual collections with its luminous presence.
